Weekend Round-Up by Erin Heisz
The Hiller Realty Minor Peewee Rep Warriors were ready Saturday afternoon for their rematch against the Hamilton Huskies.

With only one game this weekend the goalies Kiefer MacNeil and Lucas Jacklin shared the time in net.  Liam Hill was called up to fill in for a sick forward and the team warmly welcomed back Luke Zorgdrager on defence.

Early in the first period the Warriors got on a power play.  Luke Heisz sent a solid pass to Jared Gould in the slot who shot it on net.  A rebound came out and made it over to Heisz again who took a shot from the point.  Soon after we saw Sam Jeffrey and Liam Hill make assists to Aiden Benton who got his first goal of the season!  Huskies came back hard and MacNeil was ready.  Cole Meadows had a few good scoring chances later in the period.  Thomas Sheldon made some sweet defensive moves to help keep the Warriors up 1-0.

It wasn’t long into the second period when the Huskies tied it up.  We thought we had a go ahead goal on a wicked shot from Zorgdrager at the point that Jeffrey tipped in but the stick was high and it got called off.   A minute later Kaden Brame put one in from passes by Danny Van Straaten and Owen Holloway.  We were up 2-1!  Jake Heinbuch made a great shot on the Huskies goal.  Minors were called on both teams leaving a player in each box but still 5 on 5 play.  Gould fired off a shot that the Huskies goalie caught in his mitt.  Wes Duiker followed up with another hard shot on net.  Hill was moving the puck well down the ice and Colton Gibson made good defensive plays.  The Warriors got another puck in the net but it had been a product of a high stick again so was called off.  With one minute left in the period the Huskies got another goal to tie it up 2-2.

The third period saw the Warriors making a good offensive effort.  The Huskies got on the power play and Avery Thurston did a great job of moving the puck down the ice repeatedly to kill the penalty.  Zorgdrager made a slick move to stop a puck heading right into the net.  Late in the period the Warriors got on a power play and were firing off the shots.  A time out was called by the Warriors coaches with 1 minute left to strategize.  The boys then made a good move at the net but the goalie kept it a tie.  With 30 seconds left the Huskies had a breakaway and Jacklin made a monster save.  The game ended in a 2-2 tie.
