Novice T1 Warriors Cruise to Semi's at Preston Tournament
Stratford Hishon's Custom Embroidery Novice T1 Warriors were semifinalists in the Preston hockey tournament this past weekend, with a first place finish in round robin play of twelve teams.

At the Preston International Tournament (Jan 21-23, 2011)

The Warriors opened with a 4- 2 doubling of Kitchener Jr. Rangers Red. Kayden Schooley, Jared Lesouder, Tate Gaylor and Zac McCann were the marksmen. Lesouder, Mitchell Lafay, Aly McLeod, Gaylor and Bryce Lee contributed assists and Ryan Bell was excellent in net. Game 2 saw Hardy Westman earn the shutout in a 2-0 win over Cambridge Hawks. Adam Monteith scored unassisted, and McLeod scored from McCann.

In their final game of the round-robin, the Warriors thumped Welland Tigers 9-0 on a pair of goals by Schooley and singles by McCann, Noah Rusen- Steele, Callan Ferguson, Gaylor, McLeod, Monteith and Tyler Hotson. Cohen Lesouder and Monteith each had two assists, and Jared Lesouder, Matthew Whittemore, Gaylor, Hotson and McCann had one helper apiece. Bell notched the shutout.

In the quarters, Stratford got a hattrick from Hotson, single markers from McCann and Schooley, three assists from Jared Lesouder, two helpers from Rusen-Steele and single assists from McLeod, Gaylor and Riley Mathieson in a 5-1 win over Kitchener Red. Westman was excellent in net.

In the semis, Mathieson and McLeod scored in a 3-2 loss to eventual champion Cambridge. Monteith, Whittemore, Gaylor and Cohen Lesouder had assists, and Bell was solid in goal.

The Warriors' defence of Tyler Pogson, Schooley, Lafay, Lee, Ferguson and Cohen Lesouder were outstanding all weekend.
