Warriors rebound for 2nd Round Robin Game
The Stratford Parlour Best Western Major PeeWee MD Warriors hosted the London Oakridge Aeros on Wed., Feb. 16th at the Molson Arena in Stratford. After a disappointing loss earlier in the week, the Warriors were looking to rebound in the round robin portion of the playoffs. The first period was more of a feeling out period for the two teams as only a combined 8 shots were made on both goalies and no goals were scored. The Warriors needed a huge play to get them going and that was provided by their goalie Xavier Rutherford who absolutely stoned a London player on what seemed to be a sure goal.
The team seemed energized by the save which ignited the offense. Parker Wamboldt opened the scoring with 4:22 remaining in the second and only 7 seconds later James Drake scored the Warrior's second goal. The Warrior's bench seemed unstoppable as Wamboldt scored his second of the period with 1:06 left in the period pushing the Warriors to a 3-0 lead. Rutherford made several acrobatic saves to stifle the Aeros offense. Although the Aeros snuck one in halfway through the third, Rutherford shut the door the rest of the way and with Matthieu Carman potting another Warrior goal with 4:33 remaining in the third, the Warriors cruised to a 4-1 win over London. Assists on the goals went to Mack Rankin, Parker Wamboldt, James Drake, MacCauley Ross, Matthieu Carman, Ryan Carruthers and Kalyb McComb.
