Warriors Sweep Kitchener, Advance to Bristol A Finals
The Cherrey Bus Lines Minor Bantam A Warriors have swept their second series on their way to the Finals of the Bristol A League. The Warriors began the three game sweep of the Kitchener Rangers with a 4 - 0 win last Thursday at home. Maverick Petrie opened the scoring in the second period with a tip in. A minute later, Greg Hansford went high to make it 2 - 0. Two power play goals in the third, one by Liam Kelly and the second by Josh Hill, made it 4 - 0. Hill and Petrie also got two assists, with singles going to Kelly, Brandon Taylor, Zach Ernest, and Evan Metelski. Tyler Johnson earned the shutout.

On the road on Saturday, after another scoreless first, two zone clearing passes from the defence, Wade Niezen and Zach Ernest, resulted in a short handed breakaway for Hansford who made it 1 - 0. The Rangers evened the score on the power play but late in the period another breakaway, from Niezen and Taylor, allowed Hill to score the eventual game winner. Metelski added a third, assisted by Hansford. Brandon Taylor added two empty net goals to seal the deal.

Back at home on Sunday, Hansford found the net four times, twice on the power play, in the 4 -1 victory, ending the series and paving the way for the team to advance to the Finals. Assists were notched by Kelly, Metelski, Taylor, Petrie and Hill.
