Warriors Complete Sweep of Jr. Navy Vets
The Stratford Hiller Realty Minor PeeWee Warriors completed a first round play-off sweep of Woodstock Thursday night as they won game 3 in convincing fashion, 5-1.
Stratford was slow to start, but some very strong play early in the game from Tyler Parr allowed the Warriors to find their legs and get a very important first goal, and lead in the hockey game. Once the Warriors got out in front it was all Stratford, who broke out of the zone efficiently and attacked in the offensive zone aggressively. The Warriors would go up 2-0 before Woodstock cut the lead in half midway through the second period, but that was all the Warriors would need as the cruised to a final score of 5-1. Goal scorers in the game were Sean Chisholm, Haydn Shantz, Brett Stelmachuk, Eric Gibb and Michael Messerschmidt, with only two assists in the game, going to Messerschmidt and Stelmachuk.
It was a strong, hard-fought series all around, and the Warriors did a great job displaying a playoff mentality. Stratford will await their next opponent as they prepare for the second round of the play-offs with practices Friday and Sunday this week.
