The Stratford Hiller Realty Minor PeeWee Warriors ended their season Saturday with a loss to the Waterloo Wolves, officially ending Stratford’s run at an Alliance championship.
The final score of the game was 4-0. Stratford was in the game from start to finish and had several excellent opportunities to get themselves back within a goal or two, but couldn’t find a way to convert on several great scoring chances. Tyler Parr was solid in goal for the Warriors, allowing most of the goals off of multiple deflections.
It was a hard fought series, and both teams displayed the emotions and competitiveness of play-off caliber hockey. In the end only one team could win the series and Waterloo was able to best Stratford 3-1 in the best of 5. Although the Warriors were eliminated and weren’t able to accomplish their goal of an Alliance championship, it was a very successful season in picking up two tournament victories- Rochester and Guelph – and the team improved all season, improving their territorial play in all three zones. On behalf of the coaches we would like to thank everyone on a very positive and very enjoyable season, and hopefully everyone enjoys the offseason!
