Welcome to tryouts for the 2011-12 Nes-Tech Minor Peewee MD Stratford Warriors! 

We hope you have all had a great summer and are now ready for a great season of hockey!  The following is for you to consider prior to making the commitment required for travel hockey



Tryout Schedule                           Saturday, September 10                        11:00am-12:30pm          Dufferin                         Monday, September 12             6:00pm-730pm              Dufferin – First ReleaseSaturday, September 17            7:30pm-9pm                  Cambridge        Exhibition Game            Duncan McIntosh Community Centre             200 Christopher Dr., CambridgeSunday, September 18              8am-9:30am                  Exhibition Game vs Cambridge - Dufferin – Final Release Cost per tryout is $15.00 payable at the sign in for each try-out. Practice ScheduleOur regular practice times will be: Sunday mornings:  10-11 am at DufferinSaturday evenings 6-7 pm at MolsonAnd the occasional Wednesday evening Home GamesTuesday’s 7-815pm at Molson (if there is no home game scheduled this time may be used for practice) Red Hockey PantsAll players signed to a SMHA Travel team must wear red hockey pants – these are available for purchase new through Dunny’s Sports.  SMHA also still had some used player pants available for sale for $10 to $50.  If interested in a pair of these, please call Bob Zimmer at 519-801-1023. ImPACT Concussion Management TestingAll Players signed to an SMHA travel hockey team must have completed the online ImPACT testing prior to their first regular season game – failure to do so will result in the player not being allowed to participate.  More information regarding this will be available at the parent meeting once the team roster has been finalized. SMHA Skill & Nutrition ClinicsGrant Herndon will again be doing Nutrition Clinics – with new content Tuesday October 11 – 7-8pm – Tim Taylor Lounge, Rotary Complex orThursday October 13 – 7-8pm – Tim Taylor Lounge, Rotary Complex Skills Clinic dates TBA  Tournaments November 25-27th – Dan Pulham Memorial Tournament, London, ONDecember 27-30th– 45th Hespeler Minor Hockey Olympics Tournament, Cambridge, ONFebruary 24-26th – Hockey Time “Red Wings Experience” Tournament – Detroit, MIApril 8-10 Alliance MD Championships  Important SMHA dates Warrior Day                                           October   8thChip Drive                                             October 22ndHalloween Havoc Dance                                    October 29thAlliance MD Championships                  April 8th-10th Parent Meeting There will be a meeting for parents as soon as the team is finalized.  It is very important to attend this meeting, please plan to be there. Fundraising This year we would like have a group of parents to help organize our fundraising projects – some things have all ready been put into place.  All team members are expected to actively participate.  We will also be asked to assist in raising funds via sponsorships for the MD Alliance Championship Tournament.  Last year we were quite successful in this endeavor. Buses All players will travel on the bus to regular season and playoff games.  A responsible adult (parent/grandparent) is required to accompany each player on the bus.  Family members are permitted to travel on the bus with the team provided there is enough space.  SMHA Fees Basic registration:          $270, must be paid prior to tryouts1st Installment:               October 1         $275.002nd Installment               November 1      $275.003rd Installment                December 1      $275.004th Installment                January 1          $270.00 Post-dated cheques are to be submitted at the Parent Meeting in September. Community Give Back Something new we would like to try this year with the boys is to have them use some of their fundraising money,  and  perhaps raise some awareness in our community of a cause of their choosing, to give something back – perhaps the sponsorship of player fees for a child to play Rotary hockey that may otherwise not be able to do so.  It’s our way of continuing to focus on the motto of Good Players on the ice, Good People off the ice… We are all looking forward to a great hockey season!!Go Warriors!  Coach Chris Wyatt, and the rest of the Minor PeeWee MD Staff
