Home Games

Most home games will be Tuesday’s 7-815pm at Molson (if there is no home game scheduled this time may be used for practice)

Red Hockey Pants

All players signed to a SMHA Travel team must wear red hockey pants – these are available for purchase new through Dunny’s Sports.  SMHA also still had some used player pants available for sale for $10 to $50.  If interested in a pair of these, please call Bob Zimmer at 519-801-1023.  Goalies are not required to purchase red pants as long s the pants they have are comfortable, appropriate and safe for them, it does not matter what colour they are.

ImPACT Concussion Management Testing

All Players signed to an SMHA travel hockey team must have completed the online ImPACT testing prior to their first regular season game – failure to do so will result in the player not being allowed to participate.

The site for the testing is:

Follow the instructions and enter the access code TTU8KJZ9NX

Please ensure your Pop Up Blocker is turned OFF, or it will not work. If you have any trouble, please call me.

Fundraising

This year we would like have a group of parents to help organize our fundraising projects – a group of at least three to help me with this would be great.  Some things have all ready been put into place.  All team members are expected to actively participate.  We will also be asked to assist in raising funds via sponsorships for the MD Alliance Championship Tournament.  Last year we were quite successful in this endeavor.

So far the fundraising activities we have been approved for ate Mint Smoothie Sales, and Poinsettia Sales.

Other suggestions and ideas are welcomed and encouraged.

SMHA Fees

Basic registration:           $270, must be paid prior to tryouts – if you registered with Rotary your fees will be transferred to Rotary and the same post-dated fees apply.

1st Installment:               October 1          $275.00

2nd Installment               November 1       $275.00

3rd Installment                December 1       $275.00

4th Installment                January 1          $270.00

Post-dated cheques are to be submitted at the Parent Meeting in September.

Community Give Back

Something new we would like to try this year with the boys is to have them use some of their fundraising money,  and  perhaps raise some awareness in our community of a cause of their choosing, to give something back – perhaps the sponsorship of player fees for a child to play Rotary hockey that may otherwise not be able to do so.  It’s our way of continuing to focus on the motto of Good Players on the ice, Good People off the ice…

Media Reports

We need someone to write game reports as soon as each game ends and submit them to our various media contacts.

Convener

The convener for the PeeWee Division is Jeff Morris, contact information is available on the SMHA website.

Please remember, we are all volunteers and that we are committed to having a great hockey season for all, if you have suggestions, comments or recommendations, please feel free to share them, with the understanding that this is a team and all decisions are made in consideration of the best interests of the team as a whole.

The 24-hour rule is probably the most important rule we have.  Respect it.  Issues will come up, and 24 hours can bring about a lot of perspective, which only helps in coming up with the best resolutions.  We are a group of open-minded and committed parents too, so please feel free to approach us with any concerns, we will share them with the rest of the team staff where appropriate and work together to come with a solution to best fit the situation.

We are all looking forward to a great hockey season!!

Go Warriors!

Manager Mel Rintoul
