Minor Bantams tie series
Behind the solid goaltending of Ben Merkel and an overtime marker by Dalton Carde, the Stratford Cherrey Bus Lines Minor Bantams evened their best of 5 series vs the London Bandits at a game each.
Merkel stopped 32 of 34 shots faced including 2 great chances in overtime to earn the victory. Colton Fountain tied the game late in the 2nd period on a nice wrap around with assists to Kelton Frey and Shaun Pickering. With Merkel pulled and down 2-1 with under a minute to play, Stratford poured on the pressure and with 12 seconds remaining, Pickering roofed a wrist shot in tight to tie the game and send it into overtime. Spencer Dowd and Riley Walsh collected assists. With 3 minutes left in overtime, Carde drove to the net and banged in a rebound on a shot from Jarett Bogdon with Luke Goris also assisting. Game 3 is Tuesday night, 8pm at Dufferin Arena.
