Heartbreak in Vaughan
The Stratford AJ Jackson Construction minor atom MD Warriors were finalists in a tournament in Vaughan this past weekend losing 4-3 in double overtime to take home the silver cup.

In their opener, the Warriors battled hard to a 4-2 victory.  Nicholas McCabe had a pair of goals while Jackson Nickel and Jacob Bossence each had singles.  Tanner Johns, James Koch, and Victor Billard drew assists. Owen Akey and Cameron Hahn played strong games on defense.  Colin Wickenheiser played well in net.

In their second game, the Warriors downed Brampton Bombers 6-1. McCabe once again led the offence with four goals.  Owen Saunders and Maddox Keller rounded out the scoring.  Assists went to Keller, Saunders, Bossence, Ethan Skinner and Mitchell Leitch.

The Warriors then fell short against a spirited Vaughan Blue squad losing 4-2.  Koch scored both Warrior goals with a pair of helpers from McCabe.  Corey Van Nes played well defensively.

In the Semi-finals, the Warriors played a strong defensive game and outlasted Thornhill to win 2-1 and advance to the finals.  Nickel and Koch each had one goal, with assists to Leitch, McCabe and Bossence.  Liam Flanagan played a strong two-way game.  Brock Barclay was stellar between the pipes.

The final against Vaughan Red was a back and forth affair and overtime was only fitting.  Vaughan finally capitalized with one minute remaining in double overtime to steal the championship from the Warriors.  Saunders had a pair of goals with a single marker from McCabe.  Barclay was outstanding in net once again.
