Atoms Finish With Gutsy Effort
The Stratford Perth Auto Dismantlers Atoms finished off their season on Saturday with a 5-4 overtime loss to the Cambridge Hawks.
Cambridge got on the board first before Stratford answered back when call-up Tyler Guy found the back of the net assisted by Tyler Pogson. The Warriors came alive in the second scoring three more by Callan Ferguson, Mason Petrie and Aly McLeod. Kaden Eybergen picked up two helpers along the way. The Warriors looked to have things under control with a 4-2 lead heading into the third. However, the Hawks continued to battle, taking advantage of a shortened Warrior bench, netting two more to even things up in regulation time. In overtime, Stratford had the first good scoring chance off the opening face-off. But as so often happens, a missed opportunity at one end lead to an odd man rush for the Hawks, who finished things off less than a minute into the period. A gutsy effort was put forth by all Stratford players who gave their best against the odds.
