Quarterfinals even after weekend

Written be Dave Graff. The SMHA Perth Auto Dismantler Major Atom rep team split their opening two games of their Bristol A quarterfinal series with North London over the weekend.

In game one on Saturday in London the Warriors carried the offensive play throughout the contest but an inability to find the back of the net allowed the home side to escape with a 2-1 win. After North London opened the scoring midway through the first period Owen Duiker took a neutral zone pass from Zach Freeland and after having his first shot blocked, Duiker made no mistake burying the rebound top shelf to tie the game at 1. The score remained tied until part way through the third period when North London came in three on one and scored the winning goal on a high hard shot passed goalie Nolan Traynor.

In game two at the Allman arena on Sunday the Warriors bounced back with a 2-1 win of their own to tie the series at a game a piece. Caleb Musselman opened the scoring, banging in a rebound after some good work down low from Zachari Carman.  Carter Musselman also assisted on the goal.  The contest continued to be a much more evenly played game than the opener and the Warriors nursed the slim one goal lead into the third period when the visitors cleanly won a face off in the Warrior end and deposited a one timer to tie the game.  A few minutes later the Mussleman boys went to work during some 4 on 4 hockey.  Carter Musselman kept the puck in at the London blue line and after following his shot from the point, banged in a Caleb Musselman rebound to register the game winner. Goaltender Tallyn Soper and the Warrior defense corps were sharp throughout the game, thwarting several offensive chances by the visitors. Game three in the series goes Thursday 6:30pm at Dufferin arena.
