Warriors eliminated from Bristol playoffs

Written by Dave Graff. The SMHA Perth Auto Dismantler Major Atom rep team finished up the Alliance Bristol Round Robin playoff with a win and a loss over the weekend.

Saturday in Oakridge the Warriors started slowly and were unable to recover losing 4-2 to the host Aeros.  Down 2-0 in the second period Colten Cowen took a Nathan Graff breakaway pass and made no mistake with his deke on the Oakridge goalie, momentarily bringing the visitor’s to within a goal. Goalie Tallyn Soper also assisted on the marker. That’s as close as the Warriors got though with two more goals by the home side and a second goal by Cowen rounding out the scoring. Minor Atom call ups Cole Lewis and Zach McCann contributed strong games up front for the Warriors.

Sunday at the Allman arena the Warriors ended the season on a positive note with a solid 3-1 win over visiting St. Thomas.  Trailing 1-0 entering the third period Cowen tied the game early in the third on an outlet pass from minor atom call up Danny Scott.  Zach Freeland netted the winner minutes later and Cowen added a last minute empty net goal for the winners. Graff, Brody Jeffrey, Erik Smith and Owen Duiker also had assists for the Warriors while Nolan Traynor had a strong game in the Stratford goal.
