Atom MD Update
Stratford Warriors vs. London Bandits Orange
Playing at home against London Bandits Orange on Saturday, the Dunnys Source for Sports Atom MD Warriors were downed 5-1.

The Warriors began the game with their customary strong start, but were unable to maintain a consistent effort throughout the contest which allowed the visitors to capitalize on 4 unanswered goals in the second half of the game.  Nathan Cardoso scored the lone Dunnys goal on a scramble in front of the Bandits net after some excellent cycling in the London zone by the Warriors.  Assists went to Jacob Bossence and James Koch.  Matt Traschel was a force in his debut on forward and Owen Akey was strong on the Warrior blueline all game.  Brock Barclay turned aside several breakaway attempts and held the Tribe in the game all night.  Busy week on tap for the Warriors with 4 games in 6 nights leading up to Christmas.

Warriors Take on Oakridge Aeros

Last Saturday in London, the Dunnys Source for Sports Atom MD Warriors got out to a strong  start, but were unable to keep pace with a well-conditioned Oakridge Aeros squad and fell to the home team 6-1.  The Warriors carried the play in the first period with several good scoring chances, but some selfish play on a late powerplay resulted in a shorthanded goal for the Aeros and left the visitors down 1-0 after one.  The Warriors continued their strong play to start the second and were rewarded early as Ethan Boersma made a gorgeous tip on a point shot from Mitchell Leitch that found the twine and knotted the score at ones.   More pressure from the Warriors ensued, but they found themselves in penalty trouble late in the second which lead to 3 goals by the Aeros in the final 2 minutes of the frame.  In the third, the Warriors were unable to find their legs and re-create the pressure that was successful for them in the first half of the game leaving the Aeros able to coast to victory in a game that was much closer than the score indicated.  Also assisting on Boersma’s goal was James Koch.  Jacob Bossence and Nick McCabe were relentless forecheckers all game while Cameron Hahn and Corey Van Nes played well on the blueline.  Colin Wickenheiser made several key saves early to keep the tribe in the contest.  Next up for the Warriors is a home date on Saturday with London Bandits Orange.
