Peewees Split 2
The Scotiabank Peewee Warriors travelled to London to battle the Nationals last week and returned home with a hard earned two points.

Jared Searles opened the scoring for the Warriors early in the first period after an excellent forecheck by line mates David Shantz and Austin Taylor. Both drew assists on the goal.  London, however, outplayed Stratford in the opening frame and evened the game at 1-1. The Warriors found their legs in the second period scoring two unanswered goals.  Zach Dow, seven seconds into the period, scored what proved to be the winning goal after taking a nice feed from Calvin McCorkindale, and beating the Nationals goalie with a beautiful wrist shot. Hayden Arms had the other assist.  Carter Lewis finished off the scoring after tipping a booming shot by Brett Maguire from the point. Brenden Moorehead also assisted. Spencer Lazarevich was sensational in goal, turning aside 27 of the 28 shots he faced.

On Saturday night the Scotiabank Peewee’s played host to the Kitchener Rangers at the barn by the river, the Allman Arena.

The first period saw end to end action with neither team able to solve strong goaltending at both ends of the ice.  Stratford finally solved the Rangers goalie when Dow opened the scoring late in the second period on the power play. Lewis and Dylan Hall drew the assists. Kitchener tied the score less than an minute later and the teams started the third deadlocked at 1-1.

A goal mouth scramble early in the third period resulted in a second Kitchener goal. Goalie Liam McCann was injured on the play and was forced to leave the game. Lazarevich came in cold, but was solid when called upon shutting the door the rest of the way. A flurry of pressure by the Warriors saw them buzzing the Rangers goalie but they came up short, falling 2-1.

Next action for the Scotiabank Peewee Warriors is this Sunday at the Allman when they play host to the St Thomas Stars.
