The Stratford Hockey Training Above Novice Tier 3 Warriors faced off against two London teams this weekend and came away with one loss and one win.
On Saturday afternoon the Warriors faced off against the North London Nationals at the Allman. The Warriors struggled to find their legs throughout the game and came away with a disappointing 6-3 loss. Nolan Miller, Carter Petrie and Colin Schultz each scored in the loss.
Sunday night saw the Warriors travel to London to take on the Oakridge Aeros. The Warriors battled hard the entire game. Mid-way through the first Colin Slattery put Stratford on the board, assisted by Cody Bach. Oakridge answered back and grabbed one of their own to end the first period in a 1-1 tie. The game would remain that way throughout the second despite a solid effort from Dawson White to create scoring chances. Austin Musselman and Aaron Green worked hard on the blue line to keep the action in the offensive end. Early in the third Carter Petrie scored, assisted by Nathan Siebert to give the Warriors a one goal lead. Again, Oakridge answered back quickly to tie the game. Stratford goalie Aidan Hill came up with some big saves in the third to hold off the Aeros. Slattery netted his second, assisted by Grady Murphy to give the Warriors a 3-2 lead. Late in the third Petrie scored his second goal, assisted by Colin Schultz to end the game 4-2.
