Defensive Weekend
Hishons Custom Novice Tier I Warriors lost 11-0 in London against the West Hawks on Thursday.

It was a very defensive game.  Marek Carter worked hard to angle offensive players toward the boards, cutting off their scoring chances. Colton Kuepfer displayed his usual quick speed by racing back to the defensive zone.  Kaleb Martin cleared the zone well and skated back hard.  Gabe Emms was tough on the boards and passing well.

On Saturday, the Warriors faced the London Bandits, losing 9-1.  However, the Warriors had an excellent first half of the game, with only a 3-1 score at the end of two periods.  In the second period, Daniel Rusen-Steele was aggressive on the puck in front of the net and scored the lone warrior goal, unassisted.  Eric Haynes was strong in the defensive end and kept the offense on the boards to minimize scoring chances.  Jesse Merkel was fantastic in net with a number of key saves and rebound saves.  Ryan Haynes was back-checking really well and was aggressive on the puck.  Noah Roth was strong on the boards and raced back quickly to help with defense.

On Sunday, The Warriors lost to the Sarnia Sting, 6-1, in a hard-fought loss.  The team worked hard despite the loss.  The goal was scored by Quinn Appel, with assists going to Brett Knechtel and Owen Gaylor.  Nathan Gibb was strong defensively, holding his own on the blue line.
