Stratford vs. Oakridge
(Sunday Dec. 7th) The SCI Contractors Stratford Warriors Minor Bantam MD Team travelled to London to take on the Oakridge Aeros.
The Aeros jumped out to a 2 0 lead but the Warriors cut the difference down to just one when Ethan Reid banged in the puck during a scramble in front of the net. The Warriors outshot the Aeros 8 to 6 by the end of the 1st but were down 2 to 1 on the score board. The 2nd period saw good opportunities for both teams with the Warriors goalie Jarod Fleming making some great saves to keep the Warriors in the game. The 2nd period ended with the score still 2 1 for the Aeros. The Warriors hard work paid off with them tying up the score at 12-minute mark of the 3rd with a shorthanded goal by Jake Emerson. David Shantz’s hustle along the wing created the opportunity for Emerson’s goal. The Warriors got into penalty trouble allowing the Aeros to jump ahead again but 30 second later the Warriors tied it up with a goal by Tyler Lingard assisted by Ethan Reid. However, the Aeros scored halfway through the 3rd to take the lead again. The Warriors pulled their goalie for the final minute of the game but they were not able to tie up the game again. The Warriors Blake Strickland did some great fore check creating some great opportunities during the game. The final score was 4 3 for the Aeros. The Warriors shots on net were 17 to Oakridge’s 21. The SCI Contractors Stratford Warriors Minor Bantam MD Team’s will be next facing the London North team at the Stratford Rotary Complex on Tuesday. Go Warriors!! - Richard W.
