Stratford Minor Atom MD Game Summaries - Dec 6/
The AJ Jackson Construction Minor Atom MD Warriors played a pair
of games over the weekend. On Saturday versus the Sarnia Jr. Sting, the
Warriors played a strong offensive game, but couldn’t solve Sarnia’s netminder
in a 4-2 loss. Zach Richardson got Stratford on the board late in the second
period with a low wrist shot that was assisted by Liam Hill. Corey Jones scored
Stratford’s second goal of the game, picking up the rebound on a shot by Aiden
Benton. Defenceman Cole Cassone earned an assist on the play, keeping the puck
inside Sarnia’s end, allowing for the scoring opportunity.
On Sunday against the West London Hawks, the Warriors pressed early and got on the board with an end-to-end rush by defenceman Luke Heisz, finishing with a high, hard shot. Ewan Ollson assisted on the play. Stratford started a comeback in the third period when Corey Jones scored a goal at the 8:45 mark. Aiden Benton earned an assist on the play. Jones struck again at the 2:29 mark of the third period, with a quick shot tucked under the crossbar, assisted by Heisz. With a 1:15 left in the game, Liam Hill scored for Stratford on an assist by Zach Richardson. The Warriors pulled their goalie to try and earn a tie, but it was of no avail as Stratford fell to West London 5-4. Goaltender Jesse Merkel was called up from the Novice Tier 1 team and had a solid performance in net.
