Minor Peewees Heading on to Semi-Finals
Hiller Realty minor peewee rep. Warriors hosted game 6 against the Waterloo Wolves Tuesday night in their quarter final series.  The series was a back and forth battle from beginning to end.  The Warriors took game 1 then went down 2 games to 1 following two straight losses to the Wolves.  This past Saturday, facing elimination, the boys came out on top in game 4 and then traveled to Waterloo Sunday settling for a defensively battled 1-1 tie game.

Game 6 looked grim in the beginning with Waterloo striking first, but Cole Lewis tied it up from Jacob Hall a few minutes later. Next, the Wolves netted one to go up 2-1 but Cole Hislop fired a shot of his own and Zach McCann tipped it in to tie it up again with Hudson Flood adding an assist on the goal.

The Warriors then got their game going with Ethan Scrimgeour and Chadd Langlands cycling and getting the puck back to Porter Aitken who blasted one in the corner of the net. A few shifts later starting from the Warriors end Langlands and Matthew Barber got it to Aitken who raced down the ice and hit the corner again for his second of the game.  Lewis then scored his second from Nole Musselman, putting the Warriors up 5-2.

In typical playoff hockey style, the game wasn’t over yet as the Wolves were not ready to throw in the towel.  They scored 2 more goals, one with the goalie pulled, to get the game to within one goal. Keeping the open net, the Wolves defense blasted one from the point, but a streaking Hislop blocked the shot and fired it down the length of the ice into the open net to seal the Warriors win at 6-4.

Isaac Deline, Connor McIntosh, Sam Bolger & Aubrey Carter once again played some tough defense and James Cormier-Hazen kept the boys in it, playing strong in the final 3 games of the series.  Next up, the minor peewee's face the London Mustangs White in the semi final series beginning this Saturday in London.
