The Rheo Thompson East Novice Warriors had 2 games
this past weekend. Saturday was against the Woodstock Navy Vets and Sunday they
travelled to St. Catherines to face the Hurricanes.
Saturday proved to be the Warriors best effort as the demonstrated the same improvement level the boys have displayed all season long. They lost a close battle to Woodstock 3-1, with a late empty net goal being scored by the Navy Vets. Woodstock took an early 2-0 lead in the 1st period but that is as much as Stratford would allow until their final empty net goal was scored with Warriors also trying to kill off a penalty. Rem Hruden scored for Stratford with the assist going to Maddyx Chaput. Hruden was also awarded the player of the game.
Sunday the boys were on the bus early to St.Catherines. They fell behind early to the Hurricanes and were not able to battle back. Final score was a loss of 9-0. Player of the game for Stratford was Finley Newton with some solid effort.
Final playoff game for the boys will be this Sunday vs Hamilton, the team that put a halt on the Warriors 3 game winning streak, in another tight battle 4-1, with Hamilton having scored an empty netter. Warriors will hope for a bounce back game.
