Tier 2 Novice Warriors lose heartbreaker in triple overtime
It took 3 overtime periods for the Stouffville Clippers to beat the Neumeister Motors Novice Warriors in the semi final game of the Hockeyfest tournament in Oshawa this past weekend.

Stratford was looking to avenge an earlier 4-3 loss to Stouffville in the round robin.  They came out knowing this was their chance.  Stratford was first on the board with a goal by Harrison Robinet and assisted by Andrew Davis.  Stouffville came back with three unanswered goals in the second period.  Andrew Davis put Stratford within one late in the second period with a nice pass by Owen VanGestel.  Third period saw many chances by both teams, however it wasn’t until Davis put one by Stouffville goalie with 17 seconds left to tie it up and send it to overtime.  Robinet took the assist.  Jake Taylor kept Stratford in the game with many important saves throughout.  Defensive plays by Henry Flanagan, Owen VanGestel, and Nash McIlroy kept Stouffville out throughout the game.  Both teams were fighting hard throughout the first 2 overtime periods and were able to get many chances however both goalies came up strong making key saves.  Mason Bauld, Robinet, Flanagan, and Benton were quick to skate the length of the ice to attack and help protect Taylor when needed.  It wasn’t until late in the third overtime when Stouffville put it past Taylor for the win.

Stratford started out the tournament with a 4-3 loss to Stouffville.  Stratford got goals from Liam Benton, Rem Hruden and Davis.  Assists went to Blake McIntosh, and Davis.  Jake Taylor was in net for Stratford and made many key saves throughout the game.  Oscar Seip, Alexander Robinson, and Finley Newton made many great plays throughout the game creating scoring chances.

Next Stratford faced the Ajax Knights.  Stratford came out fighting right from the beginning and were quick to get on the board with a goal by Davis after a pass by Hruden.  Benton was next to put the puck past the Knights goalie.  Davis scored the next two goals with assists going to Robinet and Hruden.  Robinet rounded out the scoring after a pass by Flanagan.  Brock Herman picked up the win in the net.  Blake McIntosh, Flanagan,  VanGestel, McIlroy and Will McKee played a great defensive game to keep Ajax out of our end for most of the game.  Stratford won 5-2

Knowing they would need  a high scoring game to get them into the Semi Final Stratford  pulled out a  10-1 win over the host Oshawa Generals.  Stratford played one of the best games of the season with all players making key passes and rushing when possible.  Team work and great passing kept the puck away from Oshawa for most of the game.  Scoring for Stratford were Flanagan, Davis with 5, Evan White-Roy with 2, Robinet, and Hruden.  Assists went to Robinet, VanGestel, Benton, Davis, McIlroy, Flanagan, and Bauld.  The forward line of Finley Newton, Bauld, and Benton continuously attacked the puck as soon as Oshawa was close and created many scoring opportunites.

It was an excellent weekend for the whole team as they bonded on and off the ice.  All players played well throughout the tournament and showed the skill and teamwork that they have developed throughout the year.  Congratulations on an excellent tournament!
