Novice Tier 2 Warriors win Hawk Cup Championship
The Neumeister Motors Novice Tier 2 Warriors won the Hawk Cup Championship this past weekend.  Stratford finished the tournament undefeated and played some of the best hockey of the year.

The Warriors began the tournament against Dorchester Dragons and won 3-1.  Harrison Robinet opened the scoring halfway through the first period with a pass by Andrew Davis.  Robinet later returned the favour to Davis in the second allowing him to score and put Stratford up.  Stratfords final goal went to Mason Bauld late in the third period.  Liam Benton, Bauld, Finley Newton, and Rem Hruden provided strong checking and speed to put pressure offensively.  Blake McIntosh, Owen VanGestel, Ethan Priestap and Will McKee provided excellent support to Jake Taylor and Brock Herman who shared the goalie duties for the day.  Stratford then faced their toughest game of the tournament when they battled it out with Ilderton.  Down by a goal, Stratford battled hard and Davis tied the score with minutes left in the second period.  Robinet put the Warriors ahead ending the score at 2-1 for the Warriors.  Assists went to Evan White Roy and Davis.  Final game of the day for the Warriors was against host Mitchell Hawks.  Stratford came out strong scoring 7 goals in the first period leading them to a 10-1 win.  Bauld picked up his second of the tournament to put Stratford on the board first with Alexander Robinson picking up the assist.  Stratford’s other goals were provided by: Davis (3), Benton, Newton, Robinet, Nash McIlroy, and Henry Flanagan (2).  Assists were picked up by Blake McIntosh, McIlroy, Benton, Robinet, Davis, Newton, Priestap and Oscar Seip.  All boys played an incredible game of hockey especially considering it was their third of the day providing hustle, checking, passing and strong team play.

Stratfords final game saw them take on Saugeen Shores for the Championship.  Although Saugeen scored first, the game was dominated by Stratfords strong team play once again.  Robinet scored 3 goals, Davis (2), and Newton (2).  Assists went to Davis (2), Newton, Robinet, Benton, and Hruden.  Benton, Bauld, Hruden, White-Roy, Robinet, Davis, Newton , Robinson and Seip provided strong offensive play throughout the game.  Taylor and Herman provided strong defensive play in net throughout the whole tournament getting help defensively from McIntosh, McIlroy, VanGestel, Flanagan, Priestap and McKee.

This tournament provided lots of opportunity for the boys to show that the work they have put in this year is paying off with some of the best hockey being played by the boys.  Stratford will face West London Hawks Saturday in London.  CONGRATULATIONS WARRIORS ON A JOB WELL DONE!
