The SMHA Cherrey Bus Lines Minor Bantam rep team
began the new year with two games in two nights, winning one and losing one in
Alliance AA minor hockey action.
Tuesday night at the Rec Centre Ben ten Hag scored the go ahead goal mid way through the third period and a strong team defensive effort the rest of the way resulted in a 2-1 Stratford victory. Tallyn Soper was solid in the Warrior goal stopping 19 Hawk shots. Brady Ballantyne opened the scoring four minutes into the game while Patrick Holloway, Jack Whitehead and Braydon Tinning had assists for the winners.
Monday in London despite being down three regulars and getting a gutsy effort throughout the lineup, the Warriors fell 3-1 to the AA Constellation division leading London Jr Knights Green. After falling behind 1-0 early in the second period a hard low shot glove side by ten Hag beat the London tender to tie things up at one with less than five minutes left in period two. Carter Musselman and Calaen Trupp drew the assists. The home side regained the lead before the second intermission and added an insurance marker early in period three to close out the scoring. Soper began the week with another strong game, stopping 20 Knight shots.
