Major Atom MD Weekend Action
Despite strong efforts at both ends of the ice, the Dunny’s Major Atom MD fell short of wins in their 2-game weekend.

On Saturday in London, the Stratford squad faced the strong offensive lines of Oakridge, battling hard to keep the Aeros out of our end. Hutton Patterson was solid in net, making some beautiful saves and keeping the Warriors in the game. Down 0-3 after the first, Jakob Dugas kicked off scoring for the Warriors with assists from winger Nolan Trainor, and defenseman Noah Rankin. Great defensive play by Noah Roth and Eric Haynes kept the Warriors within 4 by the end of the second. Stratford picked up the offensive pace in the third with lots of action in the Oakridge end. Jakob Dugas went on to get a hat trick, scoring 2 more goals, assisted first by Nate Framst and Jack Murphy, and then by Lachlan McArthur. Despite great play, passing, and shooting by the Stratford squad, Dugas would be the only to score the goals for Stratford. On Sunday, the Dunny’s Source for Sports Major Atom MD Warriors hosted the Burlington Bulldogs Red at the Allman. The Warriors came out strong with great back checking, passing, and positional play by the boys. Devon Loerzel in net and the defensive efforts of all lines left the Warriors down just 0-1 at the end of the first.  A deflected shot put one past Loerzel at the start of the second, but he went on to  make a number of great saves, keeping Stratford close. With penalties on both sides, the Warriors struggled to hold off the Bulldogs in 4 on 4 play. With a few back to back goals, Burlington quickly turned a 2-0 lead to 5-0 by the end of the second. In the third, the Warriors took a penalty protecting our goalie and couldn't hold off the power play goal to make it 0-6. After scoring on a rebound and then a penalty shot, the Bulldogs built on their lead and left the Warriors scoreless until 5 minutes left in the game when Cole Humphrey picked up the rebound on a shot by Nolan Trainor. This would be Stratford's only goal, despite a good offensive effort by all lines and 16 shots on net.
