Novice Tier 1 Warriors Secure At Least 2nd Place With Ties On Weekend
This past weekend the Evoke Marketing and Promotions Novice Tier 1 Warriors secured 2nd seed in playoff round robin play, and still have a shot at 1st in final game of playoffs against North London this upcoming week.

The boys played 3 games in total this past weekend, a home and away against the West London Hawks and a home game vs the London Nationals. Game 1 was an away game on Friday night against the Hawks, the boys jumped out to an early lead on goals by Jake Schultz ( unassisted ) and Hudsyn Chaput with the helper belonging to Jack Bannon. The Hawks would battle back with an early goal at the 8:55 mark of the 2nd frame keeping the game tight. Jake Schultz would add another for Stratford on a beauty feed from Hudsyn Chaput only to fire up the Hawks to answer with 2 goals of their own to tie the game 3-3. There was no scoring in the 3rd period. Stratford outshot the Hawks by a count of 24-8.

Game 2 of the weekend was another exciting matchup at home against the North London Nationals. The matchup would be for the battle of 1st place in the division with Stratford holding a 1pt advantage in that department. Stratford again had a super 1st period gaining an early 3-0 lead on a pair of goals from Hudsyn Chaput and Maddyx Chaput with a single. Jake Schultz earned assists on all 3 goals while Piers Murray, Griffin Harvey and Reid Morris also assisted on the goals. The Nats would answer back with 1 of their own leaving the 1st period with Stratford ahead 3-1. It was looking like a scoreless 2nd frame until the Nationals would pot a late goal with 0:02 remaining in the period to tighten the game to a 3-2 matchup. The 3rd period had Carter Keating on his toes, as he turned away 7 of 8 Nationals shots, a couple of which were awesome saves. The 1 that got away was the the equalizer which came when the Nats pulled their goalie and continued to press Stratford. They would find the back of the net with 0:22 remaining to play. The final score was a tie game 3-3 as was the shot count a 12-12 tie. The tie would keep Stratford ahead by the 1 point advantage they held in 1st place.

Sunday was a rare afternoon matchup at the Allman Arena against a very hungry West London Hawks team hoping to hold onto their playoff lives. A win for the Hawks would give them an opportunity to fight for the final place in the playoff battles. Stratford was not ready to let the Hawks walk out easy here and would jump out to an early 1-0 lead when Jake Schultz made no mistake on a feed from Hudsyn Chaput. Owen Blackburn earned the alternate helper on the goal. The Hawks would battle back to tie the game, but it was Hudsyn Chaput who would put the boys back into the lead to end the 1st period up 2-1. Griffin Harvey and Tyler Jackson helped setup the Chaput goal. The Hawks scored the only 2 goals in the 2nd period, both on the PP leaving them in the drivers seat 3-2 entering the 3rd period. Early in the 3rd London would add an insurance goal to pull away by 2 and that was the difference in the game. Stratford would keep it interesting when Maddyx Chaput and Jake Schultz set up Hudsyn Chaput to pull the boys within a goal, but that was short lived as the Hawks would add another less than a minute later. The final score was a 5-3 loss to the Hawks. Carter Keating made some great saves for Stratford as he was kept busy for the majority of the game.

Next action will be against the North London Nationals in London on Thursday night. The boys will fight back to take the lead in the division as the Nationals leap frogged the Warriors by a point with a win they earned on Sunday. Otherwise the boys will be focussed and hard working with practices as the prepare for an unknown opponent in the playdowns that begin March 19th. The Warriors will have home ice advantage, so game 1 will be at home.
