A Much Needed W
The Neumeister Motors Tier Two Warriors played at home on Saturday, February 3 against the visiting Burlington Bulldogs. The team got off to a great start, built a 4-goal lead and held on for a 5-3 win which was the result of a team effort. Overall the Warriors showed a better forecheck, and improved hustle in the offensive zone.

Right from the drop of the puck at the start of the game the Warriors were out to avenge Tuesday's tough game. On the first shift they got the puck into the Bulldog zone, pressed hard and were rewarded with a goal from the point on a wrist shot from Rowan Green.

From there John Spillane scored a natural hat trick to make the score 4-0. On the first, his backhander was deflected into the net with Josh Steele and Caellum Parsons assisting on the goal. On the second and third, he was set up by Evan Hughes and Kadyn Adams from out front of the net. The third was taken out of the air to the back of the net. The Bulldogs got one back before the Warriors put the game out of reach with a goal from Kieran Johnson that went top corner and was set up by Evan Hughes and John Spillane who collected his fourth point. Cody Duiker skated well in the neutral zone and held up the Bulldog attack.

On defence the Warriors were determined. Ezra Wreford broke up scoring chances and blocked a shot. Lukas Morrison cleared the puck and won battles for the puck on the boards. Caellum Parsons and Fischer McPherson skated well in the defensive end and took control of the puck at some key moments in the game as Burlington made the game closer. Nolan Tryssennar moved the puck along the boards from the corners effectively.

In goal, Quinn Smith was solid and only let one goal in. He made a glove save on a breakaway in the second period that had the crowd cheering his name loudly. Davis Longston played the third period. He covered the puck at key times to settle the Warriors and frustrate the Bulldogs.

As the game ended the Warriors could not contain their excitement. Back in the win column the team will hope to make it a streak next week against Waterloo.
