Major Atoms Open 2018 in Winning Style
The Perth Auto Dismantlers Major Atom Warriors opened their 2018 league play with two wins on the weekend.

Saturday afternoon saw the Warriors take on the Hamilton Huskies on home ice.  Ryan McGill was the boss between the pipes while Austin Musselman and Ryan Gansevles both had solid games in front of him.  Stratford opened the scoring with Carter Petrie saucing a beauty pass to Blair Stokes who pulled the trigger making it 1-0.  In the second period Zach Schultz worked the puck down low and fed Colin Schultz a sweet pass, giving the Warriors a 2-0 lead. With 6 mins remaining in the game, Hamilton slid one of their own in but Stratford hung on for a 2-1 win.

Sunday afternoon the boys hit the road, travelling to Waterloo to take on the Wolves.  Early in the game the Warriors capitalized on the power play with Stokes netting a feed from Petrie taking a 1-0 lead.  With minutes left in the first Blake Hodgson fired on the Waterloo goalie and C.Schultz was able to tip it in for a brief 2-0 lead.  Waterloo continued to battle moving ahead of the Warriors in the second 3-2.  After a parade to the sin bin things got back on track with Brenden Sippel taking charge in net for the Warriors with timely saves.  Finally in the third Grady Murphy found the back of the net, assisted by Aaron Green and C.Schultz to tie the game 3-3.  Moments later Lukas Steele danced in unassisted with the go ahead goal and Stokes put the icing in the cake with his second of the game.  The Warriors finished off the Wolves with a final score of 5-3.

Upcoming Action: The Warriors travel to Sarnia Jan 12-14 to participate in the International Silver Stick Tournament.
