Minor PeeWee MD Action - by Brett Buckley
The Stratford All Equip Repair Minor Pee Wee MD Warriors played back to back road games Sunday and Monday.  On Sunday the Warriors travelled to Oakridge and started the game relatively sluggish.  Oakridge was able to capitalize on that and got out to a 5-0 lead peppering  Stratford goalie Nick Laverty with a barrage of shots.  Laverty did all he could to keep the Warriors in the game.

Stratford cut the lead in the second period  on a nice goal by Sam Pepper, with assists by Jackson Grasby and Jack Buckley.  Oakridge capitalized on some Stratford turnovers to extend the lead 2nd.

Stratford was able to net another goal by Jackson Campbell, but it was too little to late.  Ethan Plotnik and Austin Cosstick picked up assists on Campbell’s goal.  Stratford fell 13-2.  Nick Laverty would finish the game making 38 saves.

On Monday the Warriors travelled to Woodstock to face the Jr Navy Vets.  It was a different team from the previous night as the Warriors showed up ready to play and compete.  Strong fore check and pressure by forwards Ethan Plotnik, Justin Hodgson, Austin Cosstick and Jackson Campbell kept pressure on Woodstock all game.

Defensively Brayden Gerber, Tyson Malcho, Hunter Currie and Jack Buckley were solid on the boards and in front of their own net.

After a hard checking scoreless first period,   Jackson Grasby opened the scoring for Stratford in the second on a nice passing play by Justin Hodgson and Lachlan MacArthur picking up assists.  Woodstock scored 2 unanswered goals before Sam Pepper ripped one by the Navy Vet goalie with Cole Humphrey picking up the assist.  Woodstock would again take the lead until late in the Second frame, with a faceoff in the Woodstock zone.  Grasby won the draw back to Nate Framst at the point  and he stepped  in and fired it low and hard into the net to tie the game up again.

Both teams battled hard in some good back and forth exciting action in the third frame.  Woodstock took the lead in the third but after some hard work in front of the net, MacArthur buried the tying goal, his first of the season. Grasby picked up the assist.  Hutton Patterson was a rock in the Stratford net, making 40 saves with many being key saves to preserve the tie.  Final score 4-4.

The Warriors travel to Barrie this coming weekend to participate in the Canadian Tire Classic tournament.  There first game is Friday morning at 11:15.
