The Stratford All Equip Repair Minor Pee
Wee MD Warriors opened the second half of their season on Saturday night where
they travelled to Hamilton to take on the top seeded Hamilton Huskies. Stratford fell 8-3 but played a very
competitive game.
Lachlan MacArthur opened the scoring for Stratford in the second period. Cole Humphrey picked up the assist with a strong solo effort rushing over the blueline, taking the puck deep and making a nifty pass to the front of the net right onto MacArthur’s stick.
Nick Laverty was strong in the Stratford crease facing many shots and making some spectacular saves. The score certainly does not dictate how well Laverty played in net.
The Warriors trailed 4-1 after 2 periods of play , Hamilton scored early in the 3rd to go up 5-1 but Stratford replied with another goal set up by Humphrey. Austin Cosstick picked up a rebound going hard to the net to pull the Warriors within 3.
Later on in the period Hunter Currie potted a goal with assists by Sam Pepper and Cole Humphrey for his third of the game.
The Warriors finish off their tournament schedule this weekend in London for the Byron Optimist tournament hosted by the West London Hawks. Their next league game takes place on the road February 3rd at Burlington to face the Bulldogs.
