Warriors off to a Fast Start
The Stratford Hiller Realty Minor Peewees started their season off in impressive fashion winning the home opener vs the Burlington Bulldogs 11 -2.  13 different players got on the score sheet for this game.  Scoring goals were Luke Ahrens with 3, a great start to his Warrior career, Nathan Gibb (2), Isaac Nickel (3) , Nathaniel Smith, Ryan Haines and Brett Knechtel.  Helpers went to Colten Kuepfer Nathaniel Smith, Gabe Emms, Quinn Appel, Mark Pyzowski, Owen Gaylor, Beckham McLeod, Isaac Nickel and Kaleb Martin.

Game two saw the Minor Peewee Jr.Warriors travelling to London to play Mustangs White (who were wearing purple) and coming home with a 4-0 victory.  Ryan Haines started the scoring assisted by Quinn Appel and Isaac Nickel.  Gabe Emms potted the next one assisted by Nickel.  Mark Pyzowski scored a lovely shorthanded goal late in the second to stretch the lead to 3.  Max Harvey netted his first regular season goal as a Warrior with help from Appel.  Jesse Merkel was anything but mercurial as he earned his first shutout of the season by pulling a brick wall impression.  From the stands a challenge went out to head cheerleader Dan Smith as rookie cheerleader Brad Beuermann laid down the gauntlet with a boisterous chant of Warriors to motivate the boys as they hit the ice. We will see how an obviously flustered Smith responds.

The Warriors were back home on Saturday to take on Mustangs Purple (who were wearing white) and the boys won this one 5-3.  This was a see-saw battle early until the lads went up by 2 midway through the third.  Hats rained down as  Mark Pyzowski tallied 3, with assists coming from Nickel, McLeod and Gibb. Gibb and Nickel also got in on the scoring with helpers from Emms and McLeod. Hayden Beuermann made some key saves in the waning minutes of the final period to preserve the victory.  There were rumours of a “Let’s go you warriors yell”, but that has not been confirmed as of press time.
