Tough Sledding in the 'Shwa by Brock Appel
The Hiller Realty Minor Pee Wee Jr Warriors rolled into Oshawa this weekend looking to win their second straight tournament.  Unfortunately the best laid plans do not always come to fruition.  The team got off to a rough start as the men in the striped shirts sent a parade of players to the box.

The team had trouble getting any offensive flow going whatsoever as total time spent shorthanded was 18 minutes with a total of 22 minutes in penalties.  The boys spent more time playing like Jack, Steve and Jeff as opposed to Gilbert, Rick and Rene.  The final score was a 4-1 loss to the Cumberland Grads. Goal scored by Isaac Nickel from Luke Ahrens and Quinn Appel.

Kitchener was up next (yes we played them a week ago) and the Warriors started with their best period all weekend, going up early 2-0 taking advantage of a sluggish Rangers team.  The Rangers battled back,  in periods two and three as the penalty parade continued and the boys played as much time shorthanded as they did 5 vs 5.  The away seat in the sin bin was kept warm all game as the team had another 16 minutes plus in pims.  Goals and assists were scored by Mark Pyzowski from Ryan Haines and Marek Carter and Gabe Emms from Nickel and Kaleb Martin.

Game three saw Stratford playing the host Oshawa Generals with both teams at 0-2 and playing for pride.  I am sure the readers can guess the theme of this one as the officiating again was extremely tight (9 penalties for Stratford). The Stratford Warriors style of play resembled Carl Racki as opposed to Dean Youngblood but luckily special teams saved the day as the Warriors scored two shortys to win the game 4-1. Shorthanded goals went to Isaac Nickel and Ryan Haines. Ahrens and Pyzowski also scored.
