Meatloaf Don't play Hockey by Brock Appel
As Coach Gibbs favourite musical artist Meatloaf sings “two out of three ain’t bad”, while that may be fine in Paradise and with apologies to Mr. Loaf that didn’t prove true for the Stratford Minor Pee Wee Warriors.  The Warriors visited the London Mustangs White (who were of course wearing purple) and played a strong first two periods but let the foot of the gas in the third.

The team jumped out to a first period 2-0 lead on goals by Ryan Haines from Mark Pyzowski and one from Isaac Nickel assisted by Marek Carter and Nathaniel Smith.  The boys carried the momentum into the second scoring three more with goals by Smith from Luke Ahrens and Nickel (apparently unassisted) and Pyzowski from Haines.  At the end of two the Warriors were up 5-2 and cruising.   Unfortunately the Mustangs were not ready to give up, and battled back with three goals in the third.  Final score was a disappointing 5-5, and important points were lost in the standings.

Coming off a bit of a let down from Saturday, the team bounced back and played their most complete game of the year. The Warriors were again on the road heading to Brantford , who sat in second place in the standings, for a Sunday evening tilt.  The Warriors got on the scoreboard right off the bat when Gabe Emms made a great play jumping on a 99er’s D-D to pass that he took down the ice to go five hole.  Brantford responded with two goals making it a 2-1 game.  Quick question readers: what do Oscar the Grouch and Quinn Appel have in common?  Their love of garbage, as Appel potted two quick ones both results of goalmouth scrambles that he corralled into empty nets.   Nickel made it 4-2 in the third and Pyzowski then potted the fifth.  Assists in this game went to Haines, Pyzowski, Nickel (2) and Kaleb Martin.  Strong play in net by Jesse Merkel kept the 99ers at bay with the final score 5-3.
