Stratford Major Peewee Rep Warriors put out of Bristol Playdowns after a 5-1 loss to Mustangs White in Game #5. - By Erin Heisz
The Scotiabank Major Pewee Rep Stratford Warriors travelled to London for a rare weeknight game against the GLHA Mustangs White. It was a close match for 2 periods but ended up with a 5-1 loss to put the Warriors out of the Playdowns.

Scotiabank Major Peewee Rep Stratford Warriors vs GLHS Mustangs White Game #5

Coming off back to back wins, the Warriors were hungry to close up the series with an out of town win. Ayden Hakkers meant business and got a shot off the post in the first shift. Liam Parsons in net had a big save on a 2 on 1. Mustangs didn’t like that and things got testy in the crease with the Warriors ending up with a penalty. The penalty kill lines showed their top notch skills and killed it with no real Mustang chances. Zach Richardson got on a breakaway and fired a shot off. Warriors got another penalty which was killed strongly again. Ryan Middegaal and Luke Heisz were using not only their size, but speed to repel the Mustangs offence.

Parsons started off the 2nd period keeping the tie with a couple of saves. Kaden Brame had a good chance on a rush and the rebound was just missed by Hakkers. Parsons showed his cat like reflexes for a save on a tipped point shot. Warriors got two power plays in a row but things turned south when the Mustangs scored short handed. Richardson attempted the same move when we got our next penalty but to no avail.

The 3rd period started with us down a man and Mustangs capitalized on it to make it 2-0. Warriors power play saw Owen Holloway with a sweet wrap around move that just wouldn’t go in. A point shot by Hakkers landed Holloway a rebound that he scored on! Unbelievably, the Mustangs got a 2nd short handed goal a few minutes later to make it 3-1. It went up to 4-1 on another Mustangs breakaway. Parsons was great this series but didn’t have much chance against tonight’s onslaught of Mustangs breakaways. He was taken out for a few minutes for a change in strategy and then came back in. The last few minutes got heated and in the end the Warriors lost 5-1.

The Warriors never gave up, even when down by 4 points in a 6 point series - way to battle back within reach boys! We move now to Bristol Playoffs to finish up the season.
