Minor Bantam, Jr. Warriors Early Bird Tournament Champions
The Stratford Cherrey Bus Minor Bantam Warriors went 5-0-0 this past weekend to take home the GOLD in the 1st Annual Stratford Jr. Warriors Early Bird Tournament.
The Warriors came out strong Friday, with a pair of Victories. 4-0 over Woolwich Wildcats and then 6-2 over Alliston TNT. Outstanding goaltending by James Cormier-Hazen and Russel Sebben, and great defence from Matthew Barber.
Saturday morning the Warriors were up against Grimsby Kings winning 4-1 to take them to the Semi-Finals Saturday night in Mitchell. The Semi-Finals saw the Warriors against Alliston TNT once again, and came out with a 5-2 Victory to send them to the finals Sunday afternoon. Sebben was between the pipes and helped to keep them in the game with Stratford playing short handed a lot. Connor McIntosh, Issac Deline, Tripp Gilbert were great defenders keeping the puck out of Stratford's end. Goals for the Semis came from Aubrey Carter, Porter Aitken , Cole Lewis, McIntosh and Jacob Hall. Assists from Zach McCann(2), Nole Musselman, McIntosh, Houben, Lewis, Hall, and Deline.
In the championship game Stratford saw themselves up against the strong Woolwich Warriors once again. Stratford came out with a victory to win the Tournament 5-2. Goals for Stratford came from Lewis, Hall, Ethan Scrimgeour,Tyler Wagler and Houben. Assists from Hall, Deline, Houben and Aitken, Cormier-Hazen was fantastic in net as the game was again filled with lots of penalties. Great defence all weekend from Sam Bolger and Anthony Guzvinec. Great Team work lead the Warriors to a record of 5-0-0 for the weekend.
Next Action: Oct 6th@7pm in Hamilton, the Warriors will take on the Hamilton Huskies.
