The Warriors will now play in the International Silver Stick finals in Newmarket January 10-13.

The Stratford Motor Product Minor Midget rep team won the single A Silver Stick regional qualifying tournament in Woodstock on the weekend avenging an earlier 2-0 round robin loss to Centre Wellington by winning the championship game by the same 2-0 score.

With the defense corps of Aiden McMann, Jack Whitehead, Will Schlotzhauer, Calaen Trupp and Nathan Graff already missing Maverick Mulder to injury and having to overcome some other injuries and equipment malfunctions, the unit spear headed a strong team defensive game that stifled both Brantford in the semis and Centre Wellington in the final. Luke Gaylor buried an early Schlotzhauer rebound to put the Warriors ahead shortly after puck drop. Caleb Musselman also assisted on the tally and then gave the Warriors some insurance with a power play marker in the 3rd period. Gaylor and Owen Singer had the assists. Tallyn Soper got the win and shutout in the Warrior goal.

Earlier Sunday the Warriors punched their ticket to the final with an identical 2-0 victory over Brantford. In what was a hard fought physical game by both clubs two ill advised 99er line changes on the power play turned into two shorthanded markers for Stratford. Schlotzhauer sent a long pass up the right side boards to Patrick Holloway in the first period who went in alone and buried one far side and then in a similar situation down a man in period three Whitehead fed Caleb Musselman who went in untouched to seal the victory. Soper had the win and shutout.

The Warriors opened the tournament with a 3-1 win over league rival Sarnia. Nolan Traynor stopped 18 shots for the victory in goal while Caleb Musselman, Holloway and Ryan Adriaanse found the back of the Sting net. McMann had two helpers while Schlotzhauer, Gaylor, Owen Duiker and Zach Carman had one a piece.

Game two saw the Warriors out shoot Centre Wellington 30-18 but some stellar goaltending by the opposition and two Fusion power play markers resulted in a 2-0 Stratford loss.

Needing to win game 3 against Ancaster and keep the goals against down in order to advance to Sunday’s semis the Warriors responded with an 8-1 victory. Trupp and Holloway tallied two each while Schlotzhauer, Gaylor, McMann and Braydon Tinning fired one a piece. Duiker had three assists, McMann, Holloway and Singer two each while Gaylor, Carter Musselman, Caleb Musselman, Trupp and Whitehead had one each.
