SPEED, PRESSURE, GRIT
Saturday the Minor Pewee MD All Equip Repair & Service Jr. Warriors stared across from the Brantford 99ers in their first of two round robin match-ups of the playoffs. Collecting 2 points to maintain their 1st place standings in the Tier 1 - Playoffs.
The game started sluggish with minimal shots on either net. Speed, pressure and grit picked up ending the period and carried threw the remainder of the game. Starting the second, Zach Scrimgeour used his grit to dig a puck off the boards, getting a shot off that the goalie redirected out to Dylan Abel at the top of the circle, who didn't miss a beat to net the first goal of the game. Brendan Sipple stood between the pipes for the Jr. Warriors. Brantford's game plan of crashing the net was easily matched by Sipples' quick slides from post to post and his quick glove to cover pucks. Logan Hallock with a back handed shot and help from the goaltender scored the second goal, ending the period. The final period saw various penalties but the Jr. Warriors played a defensive game to protect their lead. Securing the W was Rowan Smith with an end to end empty netter shot, ending the game 3-0.
