Struggling Weekend
The Minor Pewee MD All Equip Repair & Service Jr. Warriors had a struggling weekend coming up against the Hamilton Huskies White and Kitchener Rangers Blue teams.
On Saturday the boys played the Huskies who are battling for first place as well in the league. The Jr. Warriors had a slow game offensively, they weren't able to create any opportunities that they could capitalize on. The boys tried a dump and chase system to generate some momentum but came up short, falling to the Huskies 2-0. Goaltender Lachlan Stanley had a solid game in net, making key saves that were a large factor in keeping the score low for the Huskies.
Sunday the Jr. Warriors travelled to Kitchener to play against the Rangers Blue for the first time. Being short a few players and lines being altered the boys had another slow start, that the Rangers were able to take advantage of scoring quickly in the first. The boys played a more defensive game, going toe to toe with the Rangers in many battles and minimizing the Rangers strong and agressive offensive. The Rangers snuck another by early in the second. Defensemen Nick Wagner took an opening the Rangers gave him and charged the net to crash in the lone goal for the Warriors. With the second ending 2-1 both teams had an aggressive third period, attacking every puck and charging the boards. The Jr. Warriors pulled their goalie late in the third but were unable to produce another point.
