The ‘07 Minor Peewee Rep team, sponsored by Royal LePage Hiller Realty began their playdown push with two wins in their 8 point series against the London Jr. Knights Green this weekend.
Saturday night the boys played host to the visiting Knights and came away with a 2-1 overtime win. London struck first crashing the cage and sliding one in past netminder Ryan McGill. One was all McGill would allow as he fended off the London attack with the help of Rylan Hall and Jaxon Biernes. Stratford finally got on the board to tie it in the third when Ryan Gansevles netted one, assisted by Colin Schultz. A five minute overtime would eventually decide the game when Blair Stokes squeezed in between the London keeper and his post.
Sunday night was another battle on London turf. Zack Irvin got the call in net and was rock solid only allowing one goal, which London nabbed on a power play opportunity. The Stratford offence went to work in the second with Carter Petrie tying the game, assisted by Stokes. Moments later Petrie nabbed another one, assisted by Grady Murphy and Aaron Green. The Warriors closed out the second period with a bullet from C.Schultz, assisted by Zach Schultz and Dawson White. Despite pressure from the Knights, Stratford held on to take a four point lead in the series.
