The ‘07 Minor Peewee Rep team, sponsored by Royal LePage Hiller Realty battled through an exhibition game Saturday night and the first of their AA seeded games this weekend.
In their first game of the weekend the boys hosted the Burlington Cougars White squad. It was a full team effort with the Warriors winning 13-0. Netminder Ryan McGill held strong for the shut out.
After finishing in first place in the round robin the Warriors began the battle for the Constellation AA round against the St. Thomas Jr. Stars. St. Thomas opened the scoring in the first period, but the Warriors answered back right away with a goal from Grady Murphy, assisted by Carter Petrie. In the second period the Stars took the lead again, but again Murphy tapped in a rebound, off a shot by Petrie, assisted by Ryan Gansevles. Murphy came in for another rebound, securing the hattrick, assisted by Gansevles and Jaxon Beirnes and giving Stratford a brief 3-2 lead. Zack Irvin made multiple key saves including a huge toe save with St. Thomas looking for the equalizer. Eventually, the Stars capitalized on a power play opportunity making it 3-3. With minutes left in the third St. Thomas took a 4-3 lead and added an extra with an net penalty assessed to Stratford.
