The ‘07 Minor Peewee Rep team, sponsored by Royal LePage Hiller Realty played two league games and an exhibition game this week and came away with a 3-0 record.
Thursday night the Warriors played host to the Waterloo Wolves. Looking to rebound from a loss the last time Stratford played the Wolves, they did just that will a 5-1 win. Ryan McGill was minding his cage all night, allowing only one goal against the frustrated Waterloo squad. Ryan McGee opened the scoring to close out the first period, assisted by Blair Stokes and Colin Schultz. Stratford grabbed a power play goal with a shot from Ryan Gansevles, assisted by C.Schultz. Grady Murphy finished off the second period with two goals, assisted by Stokes and Carter Petrie. Jaxson Beirnes and Austin Musselman worked the boards while Dawson White closed out the scoring off a feed from Petrie.
Saturday night the boys hosted the St. Thomas Stars for an evening tilt. Stratford opened the first period with a 2-0 lead. Goals came from C.Schultz, assisted by Stokes and Petrie and Ryan McGee (unassisted). Early in the second Murphy netted one of his own, unassisted. St. Thomas grabbed one goal but Rylan Hall and Blake Hodgson held off the St. Thomas snipers, while Zack Irvin protected his cage with toe saves and poke checks. Petrie rounded out the scoring with a shot down low, making it 4-1.
Sunday afternoon the boys hit the highway for an exhibition match with the Burlington Cougars Tier 1 Blue. Looking to avenge the overtime loss in Silverstick Stratford came away with this time with a 4-2 win after goalie McGill was the boss in net. The Warriors opened the scoring with Gansevles burying a rebound off Petrie. C.Schultz closed out the first period with a rocket, assisted by Stokes. The Warriors opened the second period with a commanding 3-0 lead after Rylan Hall fired a bullet from the point, assisted by Nathan Siebert. The Cougars nabbed one goal in the second and another in the third, but Stratford responded with a 4-2 finish when Murphy found the back of the net, assisted by Aaron Green. Solid work in the boards from birthday boys Zach Schultz and White allowed the Warriors to come home with the “W”.
