Minor Peewee Rep Warriors Secure Second Place Heading Into Playdowns
The ‘07 Minor Peewee Rep team, sponsored by Royal LePage Hiller Realty battled through four games this weekend in the final push for playoff positions.

Thursday night the Warriors took on the Waterloo Wolves and finished with a 2-2 tie.  Ryan McGill was rock solid in net holding off the Waterloo attack and only allowing them two.  After a scoreless first, Stratford took the lead in the second with a tip in from Ryan Gansevles, assisted by Carter Petrie and Colin Schultz.  Minutes later Petrie fed one to Austin Musselman who netted one from the point. Waterloo nabbed two in the third to tie the game.

On Friday night and Saturday night the Warriors faced off against the London Jr. Knights Green.  Game one on the road, saw the boys come away with a decisive 3-0 win. Netminder Zack Irvin took the shut out between the pipes as he held off the London snipers. Solid work in front of Irvin from Aaron Green and Zack Schultz kept London of the scoreboard. Gansevles (2) and Ryan McGee tipped in the Stratford goals, off shots from Schultz and Petrie. In their second matchup Saturday night the two teams ended up with a 3-3 tie.  Petrie opened the scoring in the first, assisted by Blake Hodgson while McGill fought off the London shooters with the help of Jaxson Biernes, Blair Stokes and Rylan Hall. Nathan Siebert closed out the first period with a rocket, assisted by C.Schultz. London fought back to make it 2-1 in the second but Stratford responded with another goal from Siebert, assisted by Green. London came out with a big third period eventually tying the game. Thanks to call ups Liam Ollson and Cole Hishon for their help against London.

Sunday morning the boys hit the road for their fourth game in four days, this time against the Waterloo Wolves.  Grady Murphy opened the scoring with a backhand shot, assisted by Petrie. But Waterloo answered back with two quick ones of their own to take a 2-1 lead.  C.Schultz tied it up off a feed from Gansevles and moments later Petrie fired in a rocket for the go ahead goal. Mid way through the third Murphy fed one out front to call up Cole Hishon who found the back of the net giving Stratford a brief 4-2 lead. Waterloo fought back making it 4-3 but Irvin held off the Waterloo attack giving Stratford a win for their final regular season game.

The Warriors have completed the regular season with a 44-7-9 record and a second place finish that came down to the wire. They will now play London Jr. Knights Green in an 8 point series.
