Sunday Cup of Joe
The Stratford Bantam Warriors, sponsored by Canadian Tire, headed to the home of Joe Thornton on Sunday to face the undefeated St. Thomas Jr. Stars.
The Warriors jumped out to an early lead early on a goal from Cole Lewis just two minutes into the game. St. Thomas answered back only :30 seconds later to knot the game at 1-1. Lewis scored his second of the game just two minutes after that to restore the one-goal lead for the Warriors and that goal stood until the final period.
In the third, the Warriors came out flying by scoring two times in the first 4 minutes of the period, one by Nick Houben and another of the stick of Jacob Hall. Nole Musselman collected two assists, with singles coming from Jonas Schmidt, Zach McCann, Ethan Scrimgeour, Hall, and Lewis.
Russel Sebben remained hot in goal by turning aside 26 of the 27 shots he faced in goal.
Notes: The Warriors remain the only undefeated team in League play with a record of 3-0-2 and now stand alone in top spot with 8 points and a game in hand on the Jr. Stars and the London Jr. Mustangs (Purple), who sit tied for second place. Next action for the Warriors is this Sunday in the second-leg of the home-home series vs the Jr. Stars.
