The SMHA Stratford Motor Products Minor Midget rep team has opened up the 2019 portion of their
schedule with two losses making it three straight and five losses in their last
eight games played.
On Saturday at the rec centre the Warriors outshot visiting Cambridge 24-11 including 9-0 in the final period but a hot visitor goalie kept the home side off the board until the final minute in a 3-1 victory for the first place Hawks. Owen Singer converted a Luke Gaylor pass into a late power play goal with Aiden McMann also picking up an assist.
Wednesday in London in an evenly played game two power play tallies and an empty net marker were the difference in a 4-1 Jr Knight White victory over the visiting Warriors. Patrick Holloway made the most of a Knight turn over burying the Warriors only goal to briefly give the visitors a 1-0 first period lead. Singer drew the lone assist.
The Warriors finished out 2018 with a Sunday trip to Sarnia where a fortuitous third period bounce led to what proved to be the winning goal in a 3-2 Sarnia victory. Ryan Adriaanse and Caleb Musselman found the back of the net for Stratford with assists going to Carter Musselman, Jack Whitehead and Braydon Tinning.
The Warriors will participate in the Silver Stick International A Finals this coming weekend where the round robin portion of the schedule consists of games against teams from Pennsylvania, California, London and host Newmarket.
