Warriors had two back and forth games against the Burlington Cougars Blue in
two separate games. A few weeks ago on
November 30th, the game tested the Warriors, but they managed to persevere as
the Cougars tried to take them down. The
Warriors took advantage of power play opportunities.
The Warriors got their first goal on the board with a solid shot from the point courtesy of Mason Bauld, assisted by Nathan Slaght. The Cougars continued to try and rattle the Warriors with some sneaky shots behind the play, but the Warriors refused to back down. The Warriors added their second goal on the board at the beginning of the third period, when Bronwyn Langis scored, assisted by Owen Bridges and Slaght. The Cougars then added their own two goals to even out the score. As the game rattled out of control with aggressive Cougar behaviour, the Warrior’s trio of Langis, Bridges and Slaght added another goal giving the Warriors the lead. The Warriors knew they needed to turn it into a defensive game to protect the lead. Though black and blue the Warriors managed to keep the Cougars from scoring again winning 3-2.
The tables turned for the Warriors when the met for a rematch against the Cougars Blue this past weekend in Burlington. The game was a back and forth game between the two teams. This time however the Cougars managed to maintain their composure. The Cougars got on the board with a quick goal in the start of the first. The Warriors answered back with a complete line effort when Rylan DeBoeck shot one past the goalie, assisted by Bronwyn Langis and Nathan Slaght. The Cougars added one shortly after that. The Warriors grabbed their second goal to even up the score when Slaght stung them with his shot unassisted. In the middle of the third the Cougars number 55 sent a bullet of a shot at the Warriors giving them a 3-2 lead. The Warriors were unable to keep them at bay and the Cougars won with a final score of 4-2.
The Warriors look forward to a busy week ahead with 4 games against Woodstock, London, Hamilton and Burlington.
