The
Royal LePage Hiller Realty Minor Rep Peewee’s had a successful weekend on home
ice. Both games featured teams from
Burlington. On Saturday Burlington
Cougars Royale came to town. This
quickly became a very one-sided game as Stratford dominated Burlington. #15 Colten Brenzil put Stratford’s first goal
on the board at 6:20 in the first.
He was assisted by #11 Nathan Slaght. #18 Cole Hishon added two back to back goals as time ran down in the last two minutes of the first period, one unassisted and one was assisted by #4 Evan White-Roy. Slaght added his own goal, with the assist being awarded to #17 Charlie Holloway. Seconds later #6 Tessa Burdett got her self one for the scoreboard, unassisted. #12 Bronwyn Langis added a full line effort goal when she scored assisted by #2 Boden Lyons and #5 Owen Bridges. Holloway and Bridges wanted to share in the momentum, as they each added another goal. The final two goals in the 10-0 game were scored by Lagis and White-Roy. Langis’s second goal was assisted by Lyons and Bridges. The game took an unfortunate turn of events when a Burlington player was injured, leaving both teams looking on with concern as he was cared for. It was decided to end the game early as he awaited medical care. Stratford sends best wishes to #16 Wyatt Wimperly, and hopes for a speedy recovery.
On Sunday, Stratford took on the Burlington Cougars Green in a much more evenly matched game. This game saw Stratford having to step up their play from the previous game. Though Stratford had many shots, the Burlington goalie managed to make lots of saves to keep Stratford to a 2-1 win. Stratford’s first goal of the game came from a beauty shot that ringed the top corners of the net and down from Cole Hishon. The second goal came with only 19 seconds left in the first period when Owen Bridges scored a goal that popped in and out of the net quickly. Both goals were unassisted. Burlington stepped up their game and battled back through the next two periods scoring with minutes left in the third for their lone goal. Stratford looks forward to being at home again next Saturday when they play the GLHA London Mustangs White. Stratford currently holds a record of 8-1-1.
