Long layoff hurts Warriors
Submitted By Krista Robinson on Tuesday, November 5, 2019
With two weeks since its last game,  Dunny's Source for Sports Warriors Minor Peewee MD team was a little rusty in the first half of the game and it cost them versus Burlington Bulldogs Red, November 3.

The Bulldogs opened the scoring three minutes into the game and then added a second less than two minutes later. When the Warriors were handed an extra minor on a scrum in front of the Bulldog net, Burlington took advantage. Jake Taylor made the original save but the rebound found the back of the net. Taylor was busy throughout the first and kept the damage to a minimum.
After killing off a penalty early in the second, the Warriors started mounting a comeback. Colston Kibedi tipped the puck out of the zone to Mark Martin and he turned on the jets. He wheeled past the defender and ripped a beauty over the blocker, short side to make it 3-1 at the 5:27 mark. The lines of Tayler Cook, Andre Lefebvre and Alex Robinson, then Liam Benton, Reed Bowles and Preston Jeffrey, and Martin, Caellum Parsons and Wesley Patterson fed off that spark and were able to generate several scoring chances and control possession. Then with 1:36 remaining in the second, and the Warriors in the Bulldogs zone, Cook picked it up in the corner and heard Kibedi calling for it at the point and made a perfect pass. The defenseman one-timed a slap shot into the top corner to cut the deficit to 3-2.
Unfortunately the Bulldogs capitalized on another penalty five minutes into the third. The Warriors battled hard the rest of the way and had several glorious chances but couldn't erase the deficit and lost 4-2.
The team has three wins and three losses and sits fifth in the Alliance Hockey East/Central division with six points. Warriors are back in action November 10 when they host the fourth place Waterloo Wolves at 3 p.m. at the Allman Arena.
