The ‘07 Major Peewee Rep team, sponsored by Scotiabank improved their record to 10-2-0 over the weekend, in their battle for the AA split.
Wednesday night the Warriors hit the road for a battle against the London Jr Knights Green. Early in the game both teams exchanged power play goals, setting the stage for what would be a back and forth battle until the dying seconds of the game. Ryan Gansevles poked in a shot from Blair Stokes, assisted by Colin Schultz to put Stratford on the board first, but London quickly tied it. Moments later Griffin McGregor took a feed from Austin Musselman to give Stratford a brief 2-1 lead, but again the Knights tied it to close out the first. The second period saw London take the lead but Carter Petrie scored to tie the game at 3-3, assisted by McGregor and Gansevles. With both teams putting on the pressure, Stratford netminder Zack Irvin stood tall and held off the London attack, while Dawson White and Grady Murphy battled on the forecheck. Finally with seconds left in the game Aaron Green shot a rocket and with a little tip in from Nathan Siebert the Warriors emerged victorious.
Saturday night the Warriors hosted the Woodstock Jr Navy Vets and it was a goal tenders dual. Ryan McGill dominated in the cage, making clutch saves throughout the game. Solid work on the blue line from Rylan Hall, Zach Schultz and Blake Hodgson helped McGill secure the shutout. After a scoreless first period, Stratford’s Carter Petrie fired one in early in the second with a beauty pass from Griffin McGregor. A hot glove from the Woodstock goalie held the Warriors off until the third period when Petrie netted his second from a feed from Colin Schultz, giving Stratford the 2-0 victory.
