The ‘07 Major Peewee Rep team, sponsored by Scotiabank opened the 2020 year downing the Sarnia Jr Sting and the Burlington Jr. Cougars Blue.
Saturday night the boys played host to the Sarnia Jr. Sting. A scoreless first period saw the Warriors kill off a 5 on 3 with big pad saves from Ryan McGill and strong work on the blue line from Rylan Hall and Aaron Green. Late in the second period Sarnia got on the board first but early in the third period Blair Stokes and Carter Petrie fed one to Grady Murphy who fired it in to tie the game. Moments later Petrie dangled in alone and jammed it home for a brief 2-1 lead. Sarnia would tie it, but not for long as Ryan McGee netted the game winner, assisted by Blake Hodgson and Petrie.
Sunday night the Warriors welcomed the Burlington Jr Cougars Blue to the old barn. With Stratford looking to improve their record a win against the third place Cougars was needed. Zack Irvin was large and in charge between the pipes coming up with clutch saves throughout the game. Stratford opened the scoring in the first with Ryan McGee sniping one in off a feed from Ryan Gansevles and Carter Petrie. In the second period Burlington tied the game, and went looking for the go ahead goal but strong back checking from Zach Schultz and Austin Musselman held them off. Tremendous shot blocking from Nathan Siebert, Griffin McGregor and Dawson White in the third kept Burlington on their toes. Mid way through the third Colin Schultz danced in alone giving Stratford a brief 2-1 lead, but the Cougars tied it again moments later. In the final seconds of the game Petrie fired one it, giving Stratford the W.
