The All Equip Repair Stratford PeeWee MD Warriors are hitting their stride as the season wears on and find themselves with 10 points on 13 games in the Alliance East/Central division.
The boys went on the road to Burlington November 17 to face the Bulldogs Red at the Appleby complex. The Bulldogs Red, finding themselves near the basement of the division needed to show the Warriors that they had something to prove to them and got off to an early 1-0 lead with bounce in their step. A newly healed Zach Scrimgeour, also with something to prove and time to make up for being sidelined early in the season answered with two quick goals in the second putting the Warriors up 2-1 after 2. Spencer Murphy added the insurance goal in the third and with the Bulldogs pulling their goalie with minutes to spare; Luke Jackson found the empty net sealing the win for the Warriors 4-1.
The Warriors went back on the road November 23 to St Catherine’s to face the Hurricanes at their home rink. The Hurricanes, desperate to pull themselves out of the league basement fought hard against the Warriors early. But inevitably the warriors would strike – and then pour it on. Rowan Smith opened the scoring in the first, followed by Ellis Schuur who would put in the first of three on the night. Sam Binns nabbed a pair from the blue line while Quinn Hyde tipped a beauty launched at the net by Warrior stalwart Adam Jeffrey. Dylan Abel would not allow himself to be held off the score sheet either grabbing a late goal and the Warriors would rout the Hurricanes 8-1.
The confidence the Warriors have gained is exactly what will be needed as the Warriors host the league leading Cambridge Hawks at the Allman Sunday November 24.
